Introduction: Mapping Out a Plan for the Rest of My Life and Enjoying the Journey

My Golden Years are an extension of the life I have lived up to retirement which began on December 1, 2011. I have organized this blog to include the top ten relevant topics shown below in the right side column in General Topics. Just click on one and you will see all that I have written on that topic. Click on the Most Current tab for chronological order of all entries.

I have addressed each topic in no particular order other than what is currently on my mind on the day I am posting. I started each topic by describing where I was when I began this blog and then exploring the possibilities of progression and any goals that I would like to meet. After that, I write about the path to reach that goal as it happens. Sometimes I just write about what is happening now.

I welcome any comments and questions either on this blog or email as I travel these paths and hope to share my growth with interested persons who may find some common elements in their own path to the rest of their life. I hope to use my skills as an appraiser for nearly 30 years to continue to observe different perspectives on a subject and reconcile into a conclusion that is of value to me. Please join me whenever you like. Email notice of new posts is no longer available so just bookmark the address.

The Blog Archive tool is helpful to find posts by year. Of most importance to me is the confidence developed in my intuitive skills over the years and it is that part of my character I am trusting to define value in my life. I believe change can be good and I can be enriched by believing in my true self using my intuition. The analytical part of my life no longer has a financial grip and I can let go of what absolutely made sense at the time in favor of what feels right now. I have done a lot of work since this blog began in 2011 and I hope you will join me as I explore this approach in My Golden Years.

Fly-Fishing - Roaring River, Cassville, MO

One of my favorite fly-fishing places is in Barry County near Cassville in Missouri:  http://mostateparks.com/park/roaring-river-state-park

I have been fortunate over the years to have the opportunity to work in this county and stay in the park at the state owned lodge.  The original lodge was built in the 1930's through the government CCC program that provided jobs during the Depression.  That building had served as the store after the new lodge was built.  Now a new store has been built next to the new lodge and the old lodge is not open to the public.  It is located next to the hatcheries at the headwaters end of the river near the Spring.

These photos were taken on St. Patrick's Day in 2010 while I stayed there a week.

There's plenty of room to fish for everyone with various pools and riffles along a shore that is very easily accessible for those that like to fish without waders.

My favorite area is the catch and release section and it goes on for a long way downstream.  It is so beautiful and pristine.  I can walk all along the shore or in the water to access all the natural areas.

                                                                 This is my favorite area.

The view from my room at the lodge shows the new store on the left and an overview of the park looking towards the Spring.

The is the resort I stay at while I am working in Barry County.

The lobby inside the resort lodge; very rustic and comfortable.

View of the front entrance inside the the resort lodge.  There is a very nice restaurant in the building with excellent food.  They will cook your catch of the day and also have several different trout dishes.  I have tried them all!

The lodge view from where I cross the road to walk to my favorite fishing area.

This is how close the lodge is from where I actually begin fishing my favorite area.

The original old lodge built by the CCC in the 1930's.

Here I am at the cave opening where the Spring begins and Roaring River begins to flow.

The Spring is easily accessible and has a clear pool with the purest water and the BIGGEST trout I have ever seen!  This is close to the hatchery.  There is no fishing here.

This photo shows the cave where the Spring begins, the clear pool, and some nice fresh watercress on the bottom left corner.

                                                                   Many large trout!

                                                                    Many more trout!

More trout...

Hey, it's St. Patrick's Day and I'm just following the Rainbows!!!!

Well, it was bound to happen...sooner or later, I'm gonna get me one!

...or more!
